Common questions
Wills and estates, answered
Straight answers to what Adelaide families ask us most.
Do I need a lawyer to write my will?
You don't need one by law, but a lawyer helps make sure your will is valid, covers your assets properly and is less likely to be challenged. We draft wills that reflect your wishes clearly, so your family isn't left guessing.
What happens if I die without a will?
Your estate is divided under intestacy rules, which may not match what you'd choose. Daniel Okafor can talk you through what this means for your family and help you put a will in place.
What is probate and do I need it?
Probate is the court process that confirms a will is valid and gives the executor authority to deal with the estate. We guide executors through this process and handle the paperwork.
Can you help update an existing will?
Yes. If your circumstances have changed, marriage, separation, new property or family, we review and update your will to keep it current.
How much does a will cost?
We agree fixed fees where we can, so you know the cost before we start. Ask us at your first consultation, which is thirty minutes at no charge.
Do you handle enduring powers of attorney?
Yes. We prepare enduring powers of attorney alongside your will, so someone you trust can manage your affairs if you're ever unable to.
